Studio Pilates is the name that the Pilates industry uses to describe Pilates sessions that use all of the Pilates apparatus:
At The Body Refinery, these classes are taken by highly-trained Pilates instructors with internationally-recognised qualifications from organisations such as Polestar, Stott and BASI. Studio Pilates sessions are personalised and individualised sessions, meaning that we focus on you and your goals. These classes ensure that you are receiving consistent supervision and feedback.
At The Body Refinery, we have a guide for which Pilates session is best for you. We call this a “pain-to-performance pathway”. Anyone with postural issues, injuries or specific goals, who no longer requires the specific care of a physiotherapist in their Pilates sessions, would likely be recommended a pathway that was based on Studio Pilates.
There are three options as to how you can attend a studio equipment class:
Before you start a Studio Pilates class, you will need to complete an initial consultation. Because your initial consultation is taken by a physiotherapist it should claimable with private health cover. Contact your health fund if you have any questions regarding claiming.
During the initial consultation your physiotherapist will assess your movement and core control, using ultrasound to identify your physical requirements and discuss your personal goals. The physiotherapist will then design a program that details specific movements/exercises and equipment to help you achieve your goals.
Please note that the initial consultation is compulsory for all new clients wishing to attend our Studio Pilates classes, regardless of experience. If you have done Pilates before, an initial consultation is a fantastic opportunity to deepen your understanding of the Pilates method and how it works in your body, and to ensure that your program can be tailored to your specific requirements, so that you get the most out of your sessions.
